Netherlands Holland 12 Ducats 1672

Netherlands-Holland-12-Ducats-1672

Del 785~787 Type (41.70g) NGC PF65 Ultra Cameo

This type of rider (ducaton) silver coin was minted in Holland from 1672 to 1793. This first-year type, distinguished from later works by the sword held overhead, was used for presentation coins in this year. Ten-ducat gold coins occasionally appear at auction, but are, of course, out of reach. The most recent example, a 1703 NGC PF61, sold for $132,000 (including fees) at a Heritage auction in March 2021.

This item is a 12 ducat coin, the second heaviest after the 18 ducat Del 787 (believed to be the only one of its kind) held by the Bank of the Netherlands, and is not listed in the catalogue. It is also believed to be the only one of its kind.
The condition of this coin is unparalleled for a 350-year-old gold coin, it is a beautiful rare coin with perfect flaws, and the face is marked "Proof." Naturally, it is a top-grade coin.
